A New Christmas

My Christmas was a little different this year because it happened a little early. I had spent Christmas with my sister on Saturday instead of Sunday. We had a blast on Friday night (Christmas Eve) making ginger bread houses, singing Christmas songs, and watching movies. On our "Christmas" we had spent baking A LOT of cookies and cupcakes for the kids.

I was so happy that she bought me my favorite things. She bought me socks, pj pants, and some BCBG perfume!

Thursday Holiday 12/22

I'm starting to realize that Thursdays are my craziest days of the week. I have so much fun on that day in particular and I really don't understand why, but I'm glad it happens.

Last Thursday I was hung out with Dominique A. and we went to Apple Bees with a few of my friends. We were having a blast with a feast of appetizers all over the table. The night had ended a little early because some dudes at the bar decided to fight.

I would say that was a pretty interesting night.

I'm ready for my Intership

When I look at an intern, I expect them to have a positive attitude, have their materials (pen, notebook, and planner)  ready at all times, dressed professionally, and is willing to go out their way whenever something needs to be done. I feel that I fit this description and if I don’t fit it yet, I know that I’m very close in doing so. Currently, I’ve been evaluated on my performance and I must say that I have a lot to work on. In module 3, I need to be more aware of others around me and that I feel will make me a stronger leader.  Not only does a leader lead, they also allow others a chance to grow and that’s what I need to work on.
My attitude is forever growing and I need to grow to be more attentive of other people’s feelings, which show my caring attitude that I know that I have.  At times, I feel that I’m afraid to ask questions, but in my internship, I need to ask questions if I’m unsure of how things operate. A way that I can remember everything is to write things down and clarify anything that I’m hesitant about.
Going into my internship, I plan to develop a method. Since I have natural leadership abilities, I plan to hold back a little to allow others to become a leader also. Keeping my day live and active, I need to continuously ask for work and try to intake as much information that I can to show my willingness to learn. I especially want to go into my internship with a better organizational method to make sure I stay prepared.

The Good and the Bad

The best volunteer work that I’ve had ever done was in my FACE community. I was an “Event Planner” and I really did not have a primary role because everything I did was mandatory. Working with FACE was enjoyable, because I was constantly working with people and always thinking about different party ideas that would be fairly fun for our community. The one thing that I really didn’t find enjoyable was the miscommunication within the community. I learned how to work with groups, organize and budget an event, public speaking, network with different artist, using my creative imagination, and persuading people.
The skills that I’ve developed while working with FACE will serve me well because I might be faced with a chance to plan and organize an event for the company. I can also use these skills to be zealous with the people I’m working with in my internship. I will be able to network with others, go into a situation ready to persuade someone, and network. When I first started my volunteer work, I was nervous at first because I didn’t know what to be expected. I think I could use my same tactics into going in my internship and treat it as something that I was born to do.
Being in an environment with all young adults, I’ve learned not to expect everyone to be as professional as they should be and some people to perform at their best abilities. I noticed that I’m not really the best person to work on a team with other people that aren’t willing to cooperate or be mindful of others time. In other words, I love being on a team that is professional, willing to do whatever they need to do in order to get the job done, and is attentive the majority of the time.
